S has been sick again...
So S has been sick again... Last weekend he had a fever but nothing else so I figured he was having a little bit of a reaction to the shots he had at his well check up. Sat evening into Sun he would cough until he threw up, great I think it's viral! So then Monday he seems better.. I let it go then Tuesday night he starts in coughing again I have to start using the nebulizer more frequent. Wednesday morning I call the doctor and get him in at 11:30. At 11:00 are there and they are ready for him so they check his O2 SAT. It was 92 but he was starting to tug again and sounding wheezy but he' running around like crazy! Not acting sick at all like the last time! So the Dr has us do a treatment there to see if that helps. His O2 SAT actually goes down a bit so he gets some steroids and off we go to get another chest x-ray...(at this point we r both starving! ) So I stop at the coffee shop on our way back to the Dr's office and get him some Cheerios. Back at the Dr's office we need to wait for the results so they tell us we can walk around so he wont get to crazy, so we walk next door to my sisters work. She tests his O2 SAT and it 87- 89. At this point his lips are a little blue. We get back to the Dr's and the Dr says he has Pneumonia again!!! UGGGHHH!!! I am so frustrated!!! She also thinks he is having an Asthma episode on top of this! So she wants to keep us there for a few hours to see if the steroid and Antibiotic will kick in enough to get us home. At this point I am really frustrated because on Tuesday I saw a different Dr and I explained to her that S wasn't taking his Asthma medicine because he wont put the mask over his mouth to use his inhaler! She says, just keep trying! I said maybe we can try something else... she says no just keep trying!!!
So Long Story short... we stayed in the Drs office (not fun with and 18 month old!) from 11-5 then they admitted us over night to put him O2 to let his body rest and let the Antibiotics kick in. We stayed over night with them waking me every hour to give him a Nebulizer treatment and check his O2 SATs. Then in the morning the respiratory Therapist started to wean him off the O2 and by 11:30 he was completely on room air and his O2 SATs were 97. So by 1:30 we were out the door!!! We are doing much better today and we have a new medicine for his Asthma! Lets hope not to go through this again in another month. The Dr also wants to send him to an Pulmologists to make sure he doesn't have damage from when he was sick when he was two months old! Thank you for your prayers!!!
