Day 2 - Sanibel Island
So every morning we went to beach first thing at low tide. There were soooo many shells. We actually had to put water shoes on the boys so they could walk because it hurt your feet! One of the pictures you can see that the sand is more shells than sand. That's what it is like every where. The beach was right across the way from where we were staying.. Here are a few pictures from the first day at the beach...
These are pelicans... there were about 10 of them in the top of this tree...
That evening we met up with Uncle Walter and Aunt Sandy. It was a great time. Uncle Walter was getting ready to leave for Alaska the next morning to be there with Kim while he ran the Iditarod... But we were going to stay in his condo at the end of our stay so we wanted to know how to get there and meet Mayday (the anti-social cat). After we saw his place we went to Aunt Sandy's house. D decided to make a grand entrance here. You see there is an indoor pool at Aunt Sandy's and she had the cover on it to keep it warm, and well it was dark so she turned on the lights so the boys would know it was threre.... Well the first thing they both did was run right towards it, A was headed for the deep end so I grabbed him first and I looked up to see D standing on the edge of the pool looking at it then me and me yelling "D DON"T TAKE ANOTHER STEP!!" Too late....yup.. D steps off the edge right into the pool.. My uncle very nochalantly leans over and grabs him out from under the cover and pulls him out of the pool! I think I actually stopped breathing.. DH was trying to get there but coulnd't get there fast enough... D just wanted to run as far as he could.. we stripped him down and put PJ's on him while Aunt Sandy dried his clothes... He didn't talk or really move for at least another 1 1/2. We ate supper and visited for a while and by the time we left he was back to his old self! Our biggest fear was that D wouldn't want to go swimming the rest of the week and we had just started our vacation.. but he went right in with DH the next morning.. Okay so that's all for now..
