VBS is going well....

The theme this year is the Jerusalem Market place. It takes you back to walk the streets as Jesus did the days before His death and resurrection.
This is one of the tents that the children visit. There are 9 in all. The Bakery where they learn to bake bread, The Musical instrument tent where they make harps and tambourine, At the carpenters Shop they make dreidels, Then there is the candy shop where they make some candies, The Herbs and Spice shop where they experience some of the smells, at the weave shop the make the traditional Matzo bread covering, Then the go to the basket making shop to weave some baskets, and there is also a jewelry tent which you see above, where they make various pieces of jewelry.

This is the weaver and his assistant., who gets fired and rehired a lot! (they are father and son!)
Below you see the children working in the instrument shop!

Here are some of the tent workers. The first two are the basket makers and the last one is one of the jewelry Makers...

All of the children are broken up into tribes, the 12 tribes ( we only have 8). Each tribe has a leader and a co-leader. Here are a couple of pictures of two different tribes during "tribal time" Where they learn some of the Jewish traditions and things that took place during Jesus time.

All in all it has gone well! The first night it started to rain so we ended up finishing the night inside. We had 36 children plus about 12 family members the first night and then last night we had 51 children and about 14 family members! It has been wonderful. This last picture is what it looks like when all the tribes and all the Village people get together for Gathering!

I will try to post more as the week goes on...
